Route 66 through Albuquerque has long been part of what makes the Nob Hill district so unique. First Commissioned in 1926, it is commonly agreed that Route 66 encapsulates the look and feel of the old West. Albuquerque has grown up along Route 66 and over the years and has witnessed the changes that make New Mexico so distinct. Route 66, colloquially known as the "Main Street of America” augments the ambiance of what is now Central Avenue.
